Title: Advanced Optical Communications for Next-Generation Data Center Interconnects
Abstract: In this special lecture, I will present recent advances in optical transmission technologies for high-capacity data center interconnects (DCIs). The lecture will introduce the fundamentals of optical communication systems and discuss key technologies including advanced modulation, wavelength-division multiplexing, digital signal processing, and optical code-division multiplexing (OCDM).
The lecture will highlight current challenges in scaling optical transmission capacity while mitigating signal impairments and maintaining system efficiency.
Emerging approaches, including probabilistic and geometric shaping and OCDM, will be discussed as potential solutions for next-generation DCI systems. The talk will conclude with future opportunities for intelligent and energy-efficient optical networks supporting AI, cloud computing, and emerging communication applications.
