Title:

Evolution of Smart Networks for Intelligent Transportation Systems
Abstract: In recent years, advancements in communication and networking technologies have revolutionized traditional transportation systems into intelligent, connected, and data-driven ecosystems. Traditional transportation networks primarily relied on isolated infrastructure, manual traffic management, and limited information exchange, resulting in congestion, safety concerns, and inefficient resource utilization. To address these limitations, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) have been developed by integrating smart networks with next-generation communication technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs), Internet of Vehicles (IoVs), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and fifth-and sixth-generation (5G/6G) wireless networks. These technologies enable vehicle-to-everything communication, smart traffic management, autonomous driving, predictive analysis, and improved road safety.

The presentation explores the evolution of smart networks for Intelligent Transportation Systems, beginning with traditional transportation infrastructures and progressing through the development of connected and autonomous transportation ecosystems. It discusses the key enabling technologies, network architectures, communication paradigms, and practical applications that have shaped modern intelligent transportation.
Furthermore, the presentation highlights my research contributions while outlining a future research vision focused on developing autonomous, resilient, and sustainable smart transportation networks capable of supporting next-generation intelligent mobility.
