AIT Decarbonization Nexus 2025

11 Sep 2025

The AIT Decarbonization Nexus 2025 is a flagship sustainability event organized by the Office of Sustainable Campus (OSC) in collaboration with AIT schools, research centers, stakeholders, and other specialized organizations. The Nexus is a two-day event that aims to help AIT reach its goal of net-zero emissions by 2030 and make the campus a place for testing new ideas and sharing knowledge about reducing carbon emissions.

Why attend Nexus 2025?

The Decarbonization Nexus is not just an event—it is a transformative movement that aligns with AIT’s mission to cultivate professionals capable of driving sustainable development and global impact. This year’s Nexus will highlight the convergence of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies, nature-based solutions (NbS)climate innovation, and research-driven entrepreneurship. It will also provide a platform for all stakeholders—students, researchers, startups, policymakers, and industrial partners—to collaborate on scalable solutions for climate action.

Key Features of the Event:

  • Hackathon: HACK to DECARBON
An inter-university innovation challenge that invites students and young professionals to co-create solutions for reducing GHG emissions using climate tech, circular economy, ESG strategies, and NbS. Teams will receive mentoring and compete for prizes while pitching their ideas to a panel of experts.
  • Inter-University SDG Research Fair and Technology Exhibition
Explore over 20 research booths from AIT and partner universities showcasing cutting-edge solutions in sustainability, engineering, climate change mitigation, sustainable agriculture, and smart infrastructure. The fair fosters academic-industry collaboration and provides opportunities for the real-world application of research.
  • Specialized Workshops
Engage in more than six workshops led by AIT’s research centers and industry experts covering topics like sustainable buildings, climate finance, carbon markets, remote sensing, social business, waste management, and air pollution.
  • Eco-Friendly Market
The marketplace is vibrant and promotes sustainable living and entrepreneurship by allowing local startups and small-scale businesses to offer eco-friendly products, food, and solutions. This platform encourages green innovation and supports local circular economy initiatives.
  • Panel Discussions and Awards Ceremony
Learn from thought leaders and industry experts as they share real-world strategies for ESG integration, decarbonization, and sustainability leadership. A special awards session will recognize top-performing student researchers and hackathon teams.
