Speaker: Dr. Suvil ChomchaiyaTopic: The Role of Social and Service Robotics in Public Administration and Eldercare/Healthcare: A Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) PerspectiveAbstract:
The integration of robotics into the public sphere is transitioning from a futuristic concept to a well-fit socio-technical reality. A new generation of Social and Service Robots is emerging in hospitals, airports, and urban infrastructure. This is even beyond the industrial applications. Unlike traditional automation, these agents leverage advanced AI to interpret social cues, recognize human affect, and engage via natural language (NL).
This session, “The Role of Social and Service Robotics in PublicAdministration and Eldercare/Healthcare” investigates the dual nature of these machines: their functional capacity and their profound potential to augment human connection in elderly care and education. By analyzing the intersection of Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) and service design, the ways how autonomous agents are being designed to conform and enhance complicated human social structures will be explored.
Core Presentation Pillars
- Socio-Technical Evolution: Analyzing the shift of autonomous agents from the “breakthrough phenomenon” to integrated, functional components of city infrastructure.
- Human Robot Infrastructure & Human-Related Usability: Investigating the role of emotional design, communication modalities, and trust-building frameworks in securing public acceptance.
- Accessibility & Strategic Impact: Evaluating empirical case studies on robot-assisted support for vulnerable groups, including elderly care and neurodiversity education.
- Democratizing AI Agency: Examining the transition toward user-centric AI, where citizens are empowered to co-create and govern the robotic ecosystems of the future.
