“Valuing Nature, Powering the Green Transition.”
Background
The global green transition is reshaping how societies value and manage natural resources. This course addresses the urgent need to understand and quantify the economic value of nature in the shift toward sustainable development. As societies face climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource scarcity, decision-makers require evidence-based tools to balance growth with conservation. Unlike technical carbon accounting, this course focuses on the economic dimension of sustainability—providing tools to quantify the benefits of forests, water, land, and agriculture, and to translate those values into policies and investments. Participants will gain hands-on skills, global case studies, and applied methods that go beyond theory. From contingent valuation and hedonic pricing to ecosystem service assessments, you’ll learn how to connect valuation with climate-smart agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and resource-efficient development. By linking valuation directly to policy instruments, SDGs, and global financing frameworks, the program equips professionals to make evidence-based decisions that balance growth with conservation, ensuring resilience, competitiveness, and alignment with global sustainability goals.
