Climate change is driving more frequent and intense wildfires and transboundary haze across Southeast Asia and Australia, with severe public health consequences, particularly for vulnerable groups such as indigenous communities, pregnant women, and children. In response, the University of Canberra and regional partners have launched two innovative projects – CANBREATHE and HEAL-HAZE – to assess the health impacts of wildfire smoke, attribute risks to climate change, and develop inclusive adaptation strategies. This seminar will showcase emerging findings, methods, and community partnerships that aim to support more equitable and climate-resilient public health responses in the region.
