The Faculty of Climate Change and Sustainability brings together four interdisciplinary programs that address climate change, disaster risk, energy transition, and urban sustainability: Climate Change and Sustainable Development (CCSD); Disaster Preparedness, Mitigation and Management (DPMM); Sustainable Energy Transition (SET); and Urban Innovation and Sustainability (UIS).
This Faculty focuses on developing professionals and researchers capable of assessing climate and sustainability challenges, finding viable options, and delivering practical, solution-oriented responses. Its academic and research activities emphasize low-carbon and climate-resilient development, disaster preparedness and risk management, clean energy transition, and sustainable urban systems. The programs are designed to build interdisciplinary capacities by integrating technical, environmental, social, and management perspectives.
Through certificate, master’s, and doctoral-level education, the Faculty aims to prepare next-generation professionals to address complex global challenges related to climate change, disasters, energy systems, and urban transformation. It emphasizes innovation, systems thinking, and applied research to support climate-resilient communities, cleaner energy futures, and sustainable urban development.
Vision
To develop next-generation professionals and researchers capable of delivering low-carbon, climate-resilient, disaster-aware, energy-transition, and urban sustainability solutions, and to advance knowledge through collaborative and applied research on regional sustainability issues and the SDGs that support evidence-based decision-making and effective responses to climate change, disasters, clean energy transitions, and complex urban challenges.
Mission
The mission of the Faculty of Climate Change and Sustainability (FCCS) is to provide interdisciplinary education and solution-oriented, collaborative, and applied research through its programs in Climate Change and Sustainable Development, Disaster Preparedness, Mitigation and Management, Sustainable Energy Transition, and Urban Innovation and Sustainability. The Faculty aims to build capacity to assess challenges, identify options, and deliver practical responses to climate change, disaster risk management, clean energy systems, and urban sustainability, with a focus on regional sustainability issues and the SDGs. It is committed to developing professionals and researchers equipped with scientific knowledge, technical and policy understanding, innovative approaches, and research skills to contribute to evidence-based decision-making in support of low-carbon and climate-resilient development, disaster preparedness and mitigation, clean energy transitions, and sustainable urban systems.

A message from the dean
Welcome to the Faculty of Climate Change and Sustainability (FCCS) at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT)—a truly international learning and research community where 50+ nationalities students, faculty and partners from across Asia and around the world come together to address the most urgent climate and sustainability challenges of our time.
FCC brings together four interdisciplinary academic programs—Climate Change and Sustainable Development; Disaster Preparedness, Mitigation and Management; Sustainable Energy Transition; and Urban Innovation and Sustainability—to respond to interconnected challenges in climate action, disaster resilience, clean energy transitions, and sustainable urban development. Our work aligns with key UN Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
Through certificate, master’s, and doctoral pathways, we prepare future professionals and researchers to assess complex risks, identify viable options, and deliver solution-oriented responses. Students benefit from AIT’s multinational classrooms, diverse faculty expertise, and strong regional partnerships—creating a unique environment for interdisciplinary learning, applied research, and global networking.
FCC also serves as a regional platform for collaboration with governments, industries, international agencies, and communities. We welcome prospective students, researchers, and stakeholders to join FCC in advancing innovation and practical action for low-carbon, climate-resilient, and sustainable development across Asia and beyond.
