The Faculty of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources (FANR) is a multidisciplinary academic faculty at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), committed to advancing the sustainable management of agricultural, aquatic, natural, and food resources. Through high-quality education, applied research, and innovation, FANR prepares future-ready professionals to address critical regional and global challenges, including food and nutrition security, climate change, environmental sustainability, and  resilient livelihoods.

FANR offers interdisciplinary degree programs in agriculture, aquaculture and aquatic resources, food systems, agribusiness management, nutrition, food engineering and bioprocess technology, and natural resource management. Our academic philosophy is rooted in learning by doing, integrating strong theoretical foundations with hands-on experience through applied research, laboratory and field-based learning, industry engagement, and the use of modern and digital technologies. This approach ensures that graduates are well equipped for professional practice, leadership roles, entrepreneurship and advanced research in an increasingly complex and rapidly evolving world.

At the Faculty of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources (FANR), sustainability, innovation, and real-world impact are at the heart of our mission and underpin all academic programs, research and outreach activities. Each Academic Program under the FANR work closely with industry, communities, development partners, and policymakers to translate knowledge into practical, scalable solutions. Through these partnerships, the Faculty contributes to environmental stewardship, climate resilience, sustainable and inclusive food systems, and equitable development. Our graduates emerge as skilled professionals and responsible leaders, ready to make a meaningful contribution at local, regional, and global levels, consistent with AIT’s role as a leading international institution for sustainable development in Asia and beyond.

The Faculty of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources (FANR) is committed to educating future-ready professionals and leaders through interdisciplinary and pactice-oriented programs in agriculture, aquatic resources, food systems, agribusiness, nutrition, food engineering and natural resource management. We advance high-quality applied research and innovation in climate-smart agriculture, agroecology, aquaculture, and sustainable food and resource systems to address pressing regional and global challenges. Through environmentally responsible, climate-resilient, and technology-enabled approaches, FANR promotes  food and nutrition security, ecosystem health, and resilient livelihoods. Working in close partnership with industry, communities, development organizations and policymakers, we transform  knowledge into real-world solutions that support sustainable and inclusive development in Asia and beyond.

At FANR, we recognize that the challenges facing our world today; food and nutrition insecurity, climate change, biodiversity loss, environmental degradation, and unequal development are deeply interconnected. Addressing them requires interdisciplinary thinking, innovation, and strong partnerships. Our programs emphasize experiential learning, applied research, and close engagement with industry, communities, development agencies and policymakers. By integrating modern technologies, climate-resilient approaches, and sustainability principles, we prepare our students to become future-ready professionals, researchers, and leaders capable of driving meaningful change.
