RTG Fellowships (Ph.D) to Support the Asian Innovation Hub
As part of AIT’s mission to build alliances and foster networks in education, research, and development both within Thailand and internationally, these fellowships aim to address the development needs of Thailand and other Asian countries. The program aspires to produce highly qualified graduates who are widely recognized and valued across the region. Additionally, it seeks to advance high-quality research and innovation in specialized fields that can lead to commercial applications.
With Thailand’s strategic geographical position as the gateway and hub of Asian countries, combined with AIT’s strength in collaboration with international organizations and world-class universities, AIT is uniquely positioned to deliver cutting-edge research. This includes partnerships with leading academic institutions and industrial sectors globally.
The RTG Fellowships (Ph.D.) to support the Asian Innovation Hub are designed to cultivate expertise in the fields of Science and Technology, enabling students to conduct groundbreaking research that supports the Asian Innovation Hub and addresses the increasing demand for advanced research in Thailand. The program offers an exceptional opportunity for Asian nationalities, including Thais, to pursue doctoral degrees, with thesis topics aligned with AIT but not limited to the 13 academic programs below.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: Applicants must be citizens of Asian countries, including Thailand.
- cGPA Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with four year of education: A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale or equivalent
- Master’s Degree with two years of education: A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale or equivalent.
- English Proficiency
- Applicants must meet the English proficiency requirements stipulated by the AIT Language Center: an IELTS score of 6 (with a minimum score in the Writing section) or an AIT EET score of 6 or above.
- Two recommendation letters
- Brief outline of dissertation research proposal (5-10 pages)
- Applicants must have a research interest in science and technology within, but not limited to, one of the following academic programs:
- Civil and Infrastructure Engineering
- Remote Sensing and GIS
- Sustainable Energy Transition
- Mechatronics and Machine Intelligence
- Water Resources and Environmental Engineering
- Food engineering and bioprocess technology
- Aquaculture and aquatic resources management
- Food Innovation, Nutrition and Health
- Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
- Information and Communications Technology
- Urban innovation and sustainability
- Agriculture systems and engineering
- Natural resources management
Coverage
RTG Fellowships (Ph.D.) to support the Asian Innovation Hub cover tuition and registration fees, a research grant, but do not cover accommodation fees or living expenses. The value of the non-binding Scholarship per student is approximately 1.53 MB.

Please note:
Eligibility Restriction for RTG Fellowship (Ph.D.) to Support the Asian Innovation Hub: Applicants who have previously been awarded an RTG Fellowship for a doctoral degree program at AIT are not eligible to receive another RTG Fellowship for a doctoral degree, irrespective of the academic program.
