Admission to AIT

a. AIT Offer of admission

(iii)   Academic and Financial Acceptance Form (AFAF)
(iv) RTG Declaration Form for those awarded with the RTG Fellowships and Royal Thai Government Scholarships
(v)    In case of admission with a scholarship, the Notice of Financial Support Form (NOF) and other required documents are mentioned in the offer letter.
(vi)   Certificate of Health: New students must submit the medical certificate two weeks before enrollment.

c. AIT Certificate of Admission

Important:

  • The conditions of the offer of admission are non-negotiable and cannot be changed after you enroll at AIT.
  • Please note that applicants from outside Thailand must not proceed to Thailand without the confirmation of admission and particularly without the proper ED visa approval from the Thai Embassy.
  • All students enrolling for the degree programs (diploma, master’s & doctoral) should bring their original/attested Bachelor’s & Master’s transcript(s) from 1st to final year and present these documents to the Admissions Unit, Office of Student Affairs, ground floor Administration Building for verification.
  • Providing false documents or information is a grounded for dismissal from the Institute.

  • Apply for a passport at once if you do not have one yet, and make sure it is valid for the entire stay at AIT. Must travel to Thailand on a valid passport; if the passport is not in order, you will be sent home immediately. AIT cannot, under any circumstances, assist at the airport if the documents are invalid.

For all Groups:

  1. Contact the nearest Thai Embassy or Consulate (in person or by letter or download from the local Thai Embassy website) and request application forms for a non-immigrant visa for educational purposes (ED).
  2. Submit your passport with your visa application (attach all required documents) to the Thai Embassy or Consulate as soon as possible to process it in time.
  3. Please apply for a non-immigrant visa (code “ED”); please do not apply for a tourist visa.
  4. In your passport, you must have an “ED” type visa. If you come with other type of visa such as official “F”, or Tourist “T”, upon arrival, you will be sent back immediately to home country to obtain proper educational visa to travel to Thailand, i.e. “ED” Visa.

Group I:

  • Please show the AIT visa request letter and AIT Certificate of Admission as proof of purpose in coming to Thailand. Some Thai embassies may also request the AIT offer letter and proof of your 1st-semester tuition and fees at AIT.

Group II (and IIA):

  • Submit your passport with visa application (attach all required documents, including police clearance certificate; also see group III below) to the Thai Embassy or Consulate as soon as possible so that it can be processed in time.
  • Please show a copy of the visa authorization letter or telex number issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Thailand received from GRU/OTA and AIT Certificate of Admission as proof of purpose in coming to Thailand. Some Thai embassies may also request the AIT offer letter and proof of your 1st-semester tuition and fees at AIT.

Group III:

  • Please show a copy of the visa authorization letter issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Thailand received from GRU/OTA and AIT Certificate of Admission as proof of purpose in coming to Thailand. Some Thai embassies may also request for the AIT offer letter and proof of your 1st-semester tuition and fees at AIT.

3. Application to Enter Thailand

Visa application form to enter Thailand at the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate General in your home country must be made at least 10 business days before the date of intended departure or at the time of obtaining an “ED” visa (see 2. Visa Matters above). The application should include copy of a valid “ED” visa issued to study in Thailand; and proof of vaccination documents.

4. Health/medical requirements before joining or returning to AIT:

  • Category 1: continuing students residing on campus — will be required to undergo a health checkup at the AIT Medical Center
  • Category 2: new and continuing students from overseas must bring their medical certificate issued by the recognized medical Doctor by the local Government.
  • Category 3: new and continuing students in Thailand residing off-campus must bring their own medical certificate.

5. Other Documents

  • Please bring your original transcripts, degree certificate and other documents to cross check or for verification the originality of your submitted documents during the registration/enrollment period.
  • Please have an extra copy of the Offer Letter and Certificate of Admission, Certificate of Enrollment/Student Certificate, and medical certificate for visa renewal purposes upon arrival.
  • For non-Thai students, four additional photos (size 4 x 6 cm with white background: no T-shirt) must be submitted to the Government Relations Unit for the extension of your educational visa after two weeks upon arrival. Please write your full name, AIT School, and Nationality at the back of all photographs.

6. Flight details

Please communicate your flight details to [email protected] as soon as this is available. Also fill up your flight information in the google form

Note: All applicants must have a Personal or Ordinary Passport (not the Official Passport or Diplomat Passport) when applying for an “Educational Visa (ED)” from Thailand Embassy in your home country to study at AIT.

 7. Medical Report

  • You must submit a satisfactory physical and mental health report prepared by a qualified physician recognized by the local government and written in English.
  • Please ensure that the certificate of health reflects your true medical condition. Making false statements or concealing information regarding your medical condition will make you liable for all expenses to be incurred in case medical treatment will be required during your stay in AIT and is also a ground for dismissal from the Institute.

Note: Certificate of Health must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to enrollment.

Arrival at the Airport and AIT

Please take a taxi from the airport to AIT-Thammasat Rangsit, which cost about 800-1000 Baht; from Suvarnabhumi airport to AIT or 300-500 baht from Don Muang airport to AIT. Upon arrival at the AIT main gate, please request our security guard for the accommodation office so that officer at the accommodation office can provide you the room key. Please do inform your arrival date and time by sending mail to [email protected] as well as fill up the google form. All new students will be allocated accommodation unit on campus.

6. Registration
 

For new students who are in Thailand: Registration and Payments

Please find below the guidelines for the registration process for the Fall (August) and Spring (January) semesters:

  1. New students who are in Thailand are requested to come to the Admissions Unit to personally register starting from 25 July for Fall Semester (August Intake) and from 3 January for Spring Semester (January Intake). Please bring along the required original documents such as Transcript(s) and degree certificate (s) including your medical certificate to show to the Admissions Unit of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA).
  2. If payment for the first semester’s fees has been paid through a bank transfer, please submit the bank transaction details to the Cashier and obtain an AIT official receipt. The semester fees include Tuition Fee, Registration Fee, Language Support Fee, Medical Insurance, SU Fee, and Student ID Card (Please refer to your Financial Assurance Form). Please also email the copy of your bank transactions details to the Scholarships & Invoicing Unit at [email protected]
  3. The Scholarships & Invoicing Unit will endorse your documents to the Registry to process your ID Card and you can then obtain your username/password to access the SIS (Student Information System).
  4. Please scan the QR code below or fill up the form for your student ID card.

For new students who are overseas: Registration and Payments

Please find below the guidelines for the registration process for the Fall (August) and Spring (January) semesters:

  1. For new students who are in their home countries and are unable to arrive at AIT before August for Fall semester and before January for Spring semester, a staff from your Academic Program at AIT will collect from the Admissions and Scholarships Unit (ASU) your user ID and password to access Student Information System (SIS). Program staff will provide you the user ID and password.
  2. The Academic Program staff will facilitate and guide you in registering for your Fall courses (SIS-online), as well as in your attendance in the online hybrid classes (case by case basis) in case you are not able join on campus on time because of some personal reasons or late admission or delay in visa procedural.
  3. Students who have already made payments for the first semester fees, are requested to send the scanned copy of the transaction details or bank transfer receipt to [email protected] or [email protected] and copy to [email protected]. You will be issued a receipt of acknowledgment through email. There may be difficulty in transferring the funds on time due to restrictions at your home country or current location. If so, please contact the Admissions and Scholarships Coordinator, Dr. Tenzin Rabgyal ([email protected] or [email protected]).
  4. Please scan the QR code below or fill up the form for your student ID card.

Note: All courses for the January and August semesters will be offered in-person

7. Orientation

The Orientation program for new students for August (fall semester) and January (spring semester) intakes will be at the Robert B. Banks Auditorium in the AIT Conference Center. The Orientation program will also be conducted online via live streaming for students who are unable to join in person /on-site. Detailed instructions and other information will be provided three weeks before the enrollment.

8. Medical Insurance

  1. All new students are required to take mandatory standard medical insurance offered by AIT Partner’s. The details are in the standard plan covers certain costs of hospitalization, outpatient treatment, treatment for Covid-19, dental and personal accident but not major medical expenses.
  2. Approximately Baht 1,250 is the initial premium for the August semester intake (for 5 months), to be renewed in January semester of the following year; for students studying in January and August semesters, the annual premium is approximately Baht 2,500.
  3. Students receiving AIT scholarships must consult the Admissions and Scholarships unit if their donors have provision for such.
  4. The Institute accepts no responsibility for any medical expense on or off campus in the case of student’s spouses, children or other relatives.

9. Notes to Students on Fellowships/Scholarships:

  1. Students on AIT scholarship must note that the conditions of the award are not negotiable.
  2. The scholarship bursary is only a contribution towards the cost of books, food and miscellaneous expenses. Thus, some students may find it necessary to supplement this allowance from their own funds. The bursary is provided about three weeks after registration upon submission of your bank account (Kasikorn Bank or Siam Commerical Bank, near AIT campus, Thailand). You can open your bank account any of this bank upon arrival. Scholarship recipients are therefore advised to bring personal funds of at least US$ 300 to cover the expenses for the first three weeks at AIT.
  3. Students on other funding categories (Self-Support, Externally Supported/ Sponsored): The certified and signed Financial Assurance Form with additional certification or evidence of financial support must be submitted to AIT as part of the documents required for enrolment. You will not be allowed to register for enrolment if these documents are missing.
  4. In accepting the offer, the first semester fees must be paid prior to your arrival at AIT. The deadline for advanced payment is during the orientation day or the first day of the semester, otherwise, registration will not be allowed. Late payment is subject to a 1.5% per month interest penalty
  5. Tuition and registration fees are charged per semester and fixed in Thai currency (Baht). However, for convenience, payment can also be made in US Dollars at a rate that is quoted in advance for each semester and valid for the duration of that semester. Though the amount in Thai Baht is fixed during the duration of the study program, the equivalent amount in US Dollars may change in subsequent semesters. Students are free to choose to pay in either Thai Baht or USD currency.
  6. With regard to bank remittance or bank transfer, please indicate the details in the bank advice to facilitate identification of the payment so that it can be recorded immediately in the AIT accounting system.   • Opening a Bank Account

There is a local bank near campus, Kasikorn Bank or Siam Commercial Bank. A minimum fee deposit of about Baht 500 is required to open a savings account and another Baht 650 for a Debit Card.

  • Children’s Education

The AIT International School teaches children up to grade 6. Students’ children will, however, be admitted only if the concerned parent has a written permission for the children to be with him/her on campus. Children of students can avail of 50% subsidy for their children’s education. For more details on the AIT International School, please visit their website  

  • Climate: The climate of Thailand is generally hot and humid. The hottest months are March and April, and the rainy season is from May to October.
