Dr. Verma is an environmental professional who has spent over 11 years working in the fields of air pollution, water pollution, air and water quality management, wastewater management, and program management. He has an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the regional issues related to air pollution and transboundary issues. He is an expert in atmospheric aerosols, trace gases, climate science, and climate change mitigation, including the Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (SLCPs).

Dr. Verma has been working with Regional Resource Center for Asia and the Pacific (RRC.AP) as a Programme Specialist since May 2012. Prior to joining the RRC.AP, he worked with the University of Tokyo, Japan, as a Project Researcher (postdoc) where he conducted research on atmospheric aerosols and trace gases. 

He also worked with the Central Pollution Control Board, India, as a Senior Research Fellow for over five years and efficiently handled air and water quality management and wastewater treatment. While pursuing his M.Sc. in Environmental Science, Dr Verma has worked on industrial wastewater management and developed a cost-effective method for the treatment of electroplating wastewater using the ion-exchange technique. 

He did his Ph.D. on Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies (Atmospheric Science) from the University of Tokyo, Japan, and studied regional air pollution and climate change with a focus on atmospheric aerosols and trace gases.
