Prof. Makoto Fujiu

Civil and Infrastructure Engineering (CIE) Program
Faculty of Infrastructure
Dr Makoto Fujiu is a Professor at Kanazawa University and visiting faculty at AIT. He joined Structural Engineering Program at AIT in 2024. His research is currently focused on urban planning and disaster management and to enhance disaster preparedness.
Dr Fujiu’s work addresses the situations that arises during earthquake and flooding particularly emphasizing on ensuring the supplies of essentials and on better evacuation plans. He helps the local government with plans to respond in case of an emergency.
Dr Fujiu plays an important role in advancing sustainable disaster management practices ensuring the communities are least affected in the disaster-prone zones and the local body have a better action plan to address the situations that arises during it.
