Project Budget. – Thailand

Donor – Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited

Project Duration – 17 Oct 1011 – 18 Oct 2023

Description – With the advancement in IoT, Big Data, and AI, the synergy among technologies could be used to provide unprecedented potential. The information feeding from truck vehicles could provide truck routing information. Unlike personnel vehicles, trucks have many restrictions such as operating time, U-turn location, and parking zone. Even different types of trucks have different constraints e.g., gasoline trucks. According to Thai regulation, GPS tracking devices are mandatory for truck data collection transferring to the Department of Land Transportation. in reducing truck traveling time, avoiding accidented roads, better utilizing highway/local roads, and ultimately reducing carbon emissions. In this work, we propose a multiple phases project. The objective is to design and build an open AI for the Trucking platform.

The current Bangchak truck GPS observations will be used to extract stop points, speed, and acceleration to understand the truck mobility. The driving behavior of the driver and spatial characterization of carbon emission will be used to understand the carbon emission of the Bangchak truck fleet. In addition, the estimated total carbon emission of the truck fleet will be identified. Therefore, the measure of carbon reduction of trucks will be able to accurately plan and perform. The truck mobility data analysis will not only provide the necessary information for directly estimating the carbon emission, but also the number of stop points, unloading time spent and route pattern can be used in the AI system or truck scheduling to improve logistic planning effectiveness.
