Project Location – Thailand

Donor – Asian Development Bank (ADB)

Project Duration– December 2022 – November 2023

Description – The project supports building Thailand’s technical and institutional capacities to assess agriculture sector vulnerabilities, demonstrate climate-smart agriculture (CSA) practices and digital technologies for the traceability of agri-food products, and support local governments to integrate climate change concerns in agriculture planning. AIT and the team specifically focus their development efforts on reinvigorating food security in Nan Province to achieve the desired long term-impact of “improved agricultural competitiveness in the highlands” which is aligned with Thailand’s Twenty-Year Agriculture and Cooperative’s Strategy (2017-2036) (MoAC, 2017).

The delivery of the technical assistance’s four main outputs supports creating a better enabling environment for the adoption of CSA in the selected project area, the outputs include:

  1. baseline data for assessing the vulnerability of highland agriculture improved,
  2. gender-conscious CSA practices demonstrated,
  3. agriculture product quality, value addition, and market linkages enhanced,
  4. the capacity of local governments and farming communities to address climate change strengthened.
