AIT and Daffodil International University (DIU), Bangladesh Establish New Partnership for Academic Excellence and Sustainable Development

25 April 2024: The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Daffodil International University (DIU), Bangladesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance academic and cultural cooperation between the two institutions. The signing ceremony took place at AIT’s campus, marking a commitment to mutual assistance and collaborative initiatives in teaching and research.

During his welcome remarks, Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, President of AIT expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “This collaboration with DIU opens new avenues for enriching our academic programs and research initiatives. It aligns perfectly with AIT’s mission to foster sustainable development and integrate educational efforts across the region.”

Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees at DIU, outlined his vision for the collaboration, highlighting DIU’s commitment to aligning its research and educational strategies with global sustainability goals and innovation. “Our partnership with AIT will significantly enhance our capacity to contribute to societal development, leveraging both institutions’ strengths in technology and management,” Dr. Khan commented.

The MoU includes key areas of collaboration such as the development of joint degree programs, faculty and student exchanges, and collaborative research projects focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Both institutions have agreed to engage in knowledge-sharing initiatives, including access to library databases and joint participation in summer and winter programs. This partnership is expected to yield significant educational and cultural benefits for both institutions, enhancing their global impact and contributing to the broader academic community.

Attendees from DIU included Mr. Kazi Mesbah Ur Rahman, Special Assistant to the Chairman, BoT, DIU (AUAP), and Senior Administrative Officer (International Affairs). From AIT, attendees included Dr. Roger Levermore, Vice President for Development and Dean of the School of Management (SOM); Prof. Mokbul Morshed Ahmad, Head of the DS Department, SERD; Dr. Sumana Shrestha, Director, International Affairs, OIPA; Mr. M. Zia Islam, Special Assistant to the President for Marketing & Recruitment; and Ms. Kritagya Regmi, Media and Communication Officer, Public Affairs, OIPA.
