Chinese Government Scholarships
The Scholarships are set up and directed by the Agreement between the China Scholarship Council (CSC), the Ministry of Education, China, and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).
The CSC Scholarships include tuition, registration, and research fees; a visa application fee; a living stipend (health insurance included); and one return international airfare to China on the most economical route.
The funding for each awardee of a Master’s degree program will be for up to 24 months.
CSC and AIT prioritize the following areas of study: Engineering, Technology, and Management.
Entry Criteria
- Applicants must be citizens and permanent residents of the People’s Republic of China at the time of application.
- Applicants must not be currently working or studying abroad;
- The scholarship awardees must return to China upon the completion of their studies and/or research;
- Applicants are encouraged to obtain information about AIT’s admissions requirements and admissions procedure. All Applicants should submit their applications for AIT programs and obtain a non-conditional or a conditional admissions letter.
- All academic areas of AIT are eligible for consideration.
- Applicants must satisfy the selection criteria set out by CSC at https://www.csc.edu.cn/chuguo and strictly follow the application schedule by completing the CSC Application Form and the CSC Employer Reference Form before 31 March every year.
- Interested applicants can apply through the AIT online admission portal. No separate application to fill out. Applicants may describe in their statement of purpose seeking this scholarship. This can be in a separate file and uploaded to the application portal.
2. The Timetable for August 2026
- January – March, students should learn about the selection criteria and procedure of the CSC scholarship from the CSC website: https://www.csc.edu.cn/chuguo and about AIT’s academic programs and admissions criteria from the AIT website: https://www.ait.ac.th/admissions/; doctoral program applicants should obtain a written confirmation from AIT that an AIT faculty member is available and willing to supervise them; master’s program applicants should obtain an admissions letter from AIT.
- 15 – 31 March, all applicants should submit their online applications in the CSC portal http://apply.csc.edu.cn/ and upload a written admissions letter issued by AIT together with other required documents of CSC mentioned on the CSC website;
- 3 April, CSC will send AIT a list of applicants who meet the criteria, together with their documents.
- By 20 April, AIT will accept applications from the applicants on the list of CSC and issue an admissions letter and send to CSC if they are qualified;
- 20 April – May, CSC will evaluate all qualified applicants for the scholarship; CSC and AIT will confirm the final result together;
- By 31 May, CSC will announce the scholarship awardees and send AIT the name list along with their documents.
- In June, AIT will process the files for visa application for the successful applicants from Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Thailand and expect to receive the files by 26 July.
- In August, the scholarship awardees will arrive at AIT for orientation and necessary procedures; the latest time of postponing enrollment will be the next Spring (January) Semester on the condition that both CSC and AIT receive and approve the request.
- July 28 – August 2, Arrival / Pre-registration.
- 4 August, Institute-Wide Registration/ New Student Orientation. The student will be advised to report her/ his arrival at the Embassy of China within 10 days after reaching AIT.
- 8 August, Classes begin..
- 18 August, Last day for adding or dropping courses.
- 10 September, AIT will provide invoices of the tuition, registration, medical and SU fees also the research grant to be remitted to the bank account of AIT.
- Monthly stipend fee will be remitted to the awardees’ personal bank accounts by CSC.
Duration
The funding for each Master’s degree program awardee will be up to 24 months.
