Participants from Sabaragamuwa University, Sri Lanka attend the International Exposure Program on Modern Automotive Technology

April 18, 2023 – AIT Extension gave a warm welcome to faculty members and academics staff from Sabaragamuwa University, Sri Lanka (SUSL) for attending the International Exposure Program on “Modern Automotive Technology”  under the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Science and Technology Human Resource Development Project (STHRDP) starting from 18th – 28th April 2023. The opening ceremony was graced by Her Excellency Mrs. C.A. Chaminda I. Colonne, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Thailand. 

Mr. Voravate Chonlasin, Executive Director, AIT Extension gave a welcome remark to all participants and expressed his sincere thanks to the Vice Chancellor, Sabaragamuwa University, Prof. Udaya Rathnayake, Dean, Faculty of Technology, Prof. Kaveenga Rasika Koswattage, and ADB Project Director, STHRDP, Dr. Chamindalal Sujeewa Lewangamage in placing trust in AIT Extension to deliver the tailor made program for the participants from SUSL. 

Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Executive Director, Office of Advancement & Alumni Affairs provided his welcome remark and thanked Her Excellency in her capacity as a member of AIT Board of Trustees for all the support she has rendered in strengthening the relationship between AIT and State universities and institutes in Sri Lanka. He further stated that this group of participants from SUSL is the first group from Sri Lanka under ADB STHRDP and the group will be setting a good example for the future programs that will be conducted by AIT Extension. 

Her Excellency Chaminda I. Colonne gave a special remark in which she provided a brief background on the importance placed by H.E the President of Sri Lanka and his Government with respect to enhancing the educational opportunities of the faculty and staff from coming from the State universities. Her Excellency further emphasized the importance of education in developing the human resource capabilities of the country.

Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, AIT President gave the opening message and informed that AIT is proud to take part in the human resource development efforts of the Government of Sri Lanka with respect to the University cadre. President Yamamoto assured that AIT Extension will do their best to serve and support all participants and jointly witness the successful completion of the training program. He mentioned through this training the participants will gain practical knowledge and possible solutions that they can apply in their daily teaching/ research activities in SUSL.
