AIT and UTCC Establish Strategic Partnership to Advance Education and Research

22 April 2024: The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) have recently formed a significant partnership. On April 22, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the UTCC Campus in Bangkok, marking the commencement of a collaborative effort between the two esteemed institutions.

Signing MoU

The purpose of this MoU is to establish cooperation between the AIT and the UTCC in the areas of teaching, training, and research in engineering, technology, and management. This collaboration aims to facilitate interactions between the institutions, foster advancement in teaching, training, research, and cultural understanding, and enhance the international reputation of both institutions.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, AIT President, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanavath Phonvichai, UTCC President.

Prof. Yamamoto expressed, “With UTCC’s rich history in providing business education to Thai youth, we are excited to establish a collaborative partnership to promote work-based learning in various technology and management fields, particularly focusing on AI and Big Data. These areas align seamlessly with UTCC’s innovative AI Integrated University concept.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanavath remarked, “UTCC is investing in cutting-edge AI programs and collaborating with Harbour Space University to offer interdisciplinary courses taught by industry leaders. We eagerly anticipate our partnership with AIT and are confident that it will be a successful collaboration.”

The agreement encompasses a broad range of activities, such as developing academic programs jointly, creating initiatives to enhance the capacity of faculty and staff, facilitating the exchange of students for educational, research, and community engagement purposes, and coordinating collaborative efforts in research projects, conferences, workshops, and seminars.
