Strengthening Academic and Community Engagement: AIT and SRU Partnership

2 April 2024: The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Suratthani Rajabhat University (SRU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 2 April 2024 to enrich education, research, and outreach activities between the two esteemed institutions.

The Memorandum of Understanding encompasses various activities, including developing programs and projects to enhance university education through collaborative research and teaching. It also involves facilitating student exchange programs and organizing exposure visits for students. Joint initiatives such as projects, research, and consultancy projects are encouraged. Additionally, the agreement promotes the organization of joint workshops, conferences, and training opportunities for faculty, staff, students, and the wider community. Joint training programs are also part of the collaboration, along with any other mutually agreed activities.

Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, AIT President, highlighting the mutual benefits and shared objectives between the two institutions. He emphasized the importance of this partnership in furthering AIT’s mission. Prof. Yamamoto’s remarks reflected a strong commitment to leveraging this collaboration to enhance educational and research opportunities for students and faculty alike.

Dr. Somprat Wutuchan, Acting President and Vice President for Social Engagement and Networks at SRU, affirmed SRU’s commitment to serving the local community and the nation through expanded knowledge and work competencies. He expressed confidence that the partnership with AIT would be instrumental in achieving this goal.

The ceremony was attended by officials and faculty members from both institutions. From SRU Asst. Prof. Dr. Nara Phongphanich, Director of Research and Development Institute (witness) also attended the ceremony. From AIT, Prof. Nitin Kumar Tripathi, VPAA; Ms. Chalita Lertwinyu, Executive Director, OTA (witness); Prof. Abdul Salam, Dean SERD; Prof. Mokbul Morshed Ahmad, Head of DS Department, SERD; Dr. Sumana Shrestha, Director, International Affairs, OPIA and Mr. Sanjeet Amatya, Director, Public Affairs, OPIA were present.
