Professor Nitin Kumar Tripathi Appointed Acting VPAA at AIT

12 February 2024: Professor Nitin Kumar Tripathi has been appointed as the Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), effective February 15, 2024, until December 31, 2024. During this period, he will assume the responsibilities of the VPAA, adhering to the institute’s rules and regulations.

Prof. Tripathi, a distinguished faculty member of the School of Engineering and Technology since 2000, brings a wealth of experience to this role. He also serves as the Executive Director of the Special Degree Program.

Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, AIT President expressed gratitude to Professor Tripathi for accepting this crucial role and extended wishes for success.

Prof. Tripathi holds a Ph.D. and a Master of Technology in Remote Sensing from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and has a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Warangal, India. His research interests encompass Geoinformatics applications in various sectors such as environment, marine, health, and agriculture.

With expertise in remote sensing, GIS, GNSS, and UAV technologies, his research focuses on sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, healthcare, and urban development.

Beyond his academic contributions, Prof. Tripathi has played a crucial role in establishing international academic collaborations. These collaborations include unified bachelor-master programs and dual doctoral degree programs with several universities worldwide.
